26 Days of Quality Posting Ahead

I like to write. I have had a blog for a few years now, but for whatever reason, I have had a hard time keeping it updated regularly. Part of the reason is that I cannot access it from work. There is a DEFCON 10 type lockdown on all things “internet cool” on military bases… who knew?! Another reason is that we are trying hard not to get washed downstream in the river of life. Whatever the reason, my passion to write has taken a backseat; make that a third-row backseat. Starting today, I am going to put up quality content every day until 2009, at which point we will take another look. So take the journey with me, and let’s see what comes together.

I begin with some notes I wrote for a teaching on being a Conduit of the Kingdom:

We Are All Conduits of the Kingdom

If you look up “conduits” in a dictionary, or online as I did HERE, we see a really fun definition. “A means by which something is transmitted: an arms dealer who served as a conduit for intelligence data.

When I think of conduits, I see them as three things mostly. They are Protective, Flexible, and Guiding. I like the idea of being a ‘conduit for intelligence data’ as well. I love all things having to do with spying and espionage and I often think of the Kingdom of God in an Ephesians 6 paradigm. It is our duty to make sure that as conduits, we pass the intelligence data on correctly!

Protective

Proverbs 22:6 in The Message says “Point your kids in the right direction—
when they’re old they won’t be lost.
” I had not read this version until I was writing these notes, but I like it better than the traditional version as it relates better to the concept of conduits. A conduit leads or points in a certain direction. It has a hard, tough exterior that protects its fragile cargo from unnecessary damage. The exterior takes all the extremes the world has to offer, all while protecting and pointing in the right direction.

Flexible

Deuteronomy 11:19 again in The Message has this to say, “Teach them to your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning until you fall into bed at night.” As a father of 3, I can attest to the difficulties of being flexible, however it is crucial that as mentors, parents, relatives etc. that we show ourselves as willing to take the opportunities presented to us when they are offered to teach, lead, and be there for those entrusted in our care. If we are not able to be flexible, the chance of our success in seeing the Kingdom instilled in its proper destination is diminished greatly!

Guiding

Luke 18:16 in The Message has this very familiar verse, “Let these children alone. Don’t get between them and me. These children are the kingdom’s pride and joy.” Stop and think about this a moment. How often, by our actions, are we guiding children in the Kingdom? Children are not always those that are under 18 years of age, they can be children spiritually as well. A person who came to know Jesus yesterday is less spiritually mature and aware than someone that has had a relationship with Christ for decades. It is in this context that we can see how to be a conduit of the Kingdom. We can be protective and flexible as we guide those around us that God has placed in our lives. Remember, these ‘children’ are the Kingdom’s pride and joy. This can happen anywhere we are on a day to day basis. This is how the Kingdom advances and it should!
